The traffic methods I am going to discuss here have not change since the web started. Many people are straying away from the old methods, but my advice is to use any method that bring you more traffic and a steady flow of visitors to your website on a monthly basis.

Pay Per Click

I would advise any beginner to stay away from pay per click traffic until you are earning some real dollars online. My first exposure to PPC traffic cost me a $188 dollars, and I didn’t even know what was going on. I kept increasing my bids and was wondering why I wasn’t getting any clicks.

I sent Google an email and they told me my adwords account was working fine, I just had to adjust the date to see todays activity. Wow, what a loss, $188 dollars later and not one sale. Much has changed since then, because I use mostly free methods and generate a lot of sales online.

Links

Reciprocal linking is one method of getting more visitors to your website. It is one method where you place a link on your website that another website and they do the same for you.

I would use precaution when using reciprocal linking. Don’t overdo this method for driving traffic. If your a little skillful and can write great content, then you can always write content for other webmasters with a link pointing back to your site in the resource box.

Article Marketing

Another great traffic source that will bring you loads of traffic for an article you wrote once. The trick here is to never add any articles that you will submit to the article directories to your own websites. Always rewrite the original article.

What you do here is write a article between 500 to 700 words, and you will submit this article to at least 10 to 25 article directories. You can find article directories by doing a search on Google or Yahoo for “article directories” or “submit your article”. You can also use GoogleSnatch, they have a very nice article directory with over 500 article directories waiting for you to use.

The most important point here is to submit a different article to 10 to 25 article directories every three days. This will take half an hour to an hour, but the traffic rewards is great, and that will be all free traffic.

Submit to online Directories

You can also submit your website to online directories. This is also a slow traffic resource, but is great for back-links and higher ranking in the search engines. You will also submit your site every week to at least 10 to 25 site submission directories. continue this process until you have submitted you site to at least 300 to 500 directories.

Site Optimization

Now, I will be honest with you and admit, that SEO is important, but not as important as it used to be. I would spend more time writing original content that is very informative. Once your site is worth visiting, many visitors will return and many will link to your site. So don’t put too much focus in the site optimization techniques. WEB 20

The newest and hottest traffic strategy online today is WEB 20. This is where community site like technorati, delicious, mybloglog and facebook. These are all social media type of site, where people do more socializing and hang out daily. If your well connected these sites can bring you as much as 100,000 visitors in a couple hours once you hit the front page.

Blogs

Start a blog and post original articles to your blog. Write about you niche, and keep posting on a regular basis. Two to three times per week is enough. In the beginning your blog will seem lost in space, but as you start getting more visitor word of mouth will start to spread and slowly but surely, you will a spike in your traffic.

Blog Carnivals

Posting your new articles to blog carnivals on a weekly basis will get you a slow but steady traffic increase. My site visitors has doubled since I started using blog carnivals. Every time you write a new article add your article to related blog carnivals.

The one last tip i leave with you is to forget any and all types of automatic traffic generation schemes, they only work for a short time and then they are gone. use the methods I am recommending here and you will see a strong increase on a weekly basis.
